All the things I still remember
Summers never looked the same
Years go by and time still seems to fly
But the memories remain
In the middle of September
We still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

you dun shot my bird!

sprinters celebrated yingting's birthday on friday and it was a total success!! i spent 1 hour wrapping up the shoebox in drawing block for her, then brought it to my class where we met up at 6.45am and wrapped up the fruits in transparent wrapping paper with worms all over it (3 unripe bananas, 2 apples, 2 pears, 2 fragrant pears, 3 oranges and a beeg box of Special K for the birthday girl cos she was on a diet). much decapitating of worms occurred during the wrapping- up process by hazel, and many screams were uttered while trying to figure out a way to place the fruits, which resulted with many apples nearly falling off the table due to our noobness. then we did all the necessary decorations, but we didn't have enough time so we met again during recess, where we spent a nerve-racking 20min doing the final touchups to the present. while waiting, i picked up a palm from the freshly-cut palm tree outside my class and brought it into the classroom where i waved it around like a maniac.

then came the making of the plan! where joy became as insane as i did, took 3 palms instead and we came up with Formation Y - improved version. then while waiting for alex and the rest of the sprinters sign the box, windy and i did an indian dance and fought each other with our new weapons. hor.

with 5min to spare. we ran to ying ting's class across the field, not before being confronted by ms lim and ms rockey where they asked us where in the world we were going with those palms. they didn't hinder us much, but when we reached yingting's class we found out she had gone to the humans room for history class. so we rushed to the humans room looking for all the world like crazy spanish game show girls holding palms over our heads rushing for the parade float cos we took too long to put on our make-up and do our hair.

petrina went in to ask Mrs Tan if she could speak to yingting for a while, and when yingting did come out, we waved the palm leaves in front of her face and sang a loud chorus of HAPPY BIRTHDAYYY. awesome facial expression. totally epic. i'll never forget that.

then, after alex passed her her present, we sprinted across the carpark, threw our palms in a pile of other leaves in a corner and reached our classes in under a minute. that's what we go to training for. heee.

i took the 9:52 train to cambridge todayy. we nearly missed it. we sprinted for the train cos we had to buy tickets and managed to get into one of the carriages with 2min to spare. it was exactly an hour's ride to cambridge and dad showed me king's college and the place where he bought the engagement ring for my mom. then he brought me to a teashop called auntie's and then we got to walk through selwyn college - his college!! and and cambridge university got voted the top university in the world, and selwyn college is the top university of cambridge. so in other words i was walking through the top college in the world and even walking on it's grass. the funny thing is selwyn is the poorest college there. it's most probably one fifth the size of kings and trinity college. but the garden was so nice. wow.
well then we went punting on the river cam and dad told me how cambridge got it's name.
"this is the river cam. and someone built a bridge over it and it became cambridge! ta-da!"
actually there were tonnes of bridges over it. like one every 50m. and i saw the mathematical bridge, which is the one isaac newton built with no nails, so every piece of wood was just balancing on each other to form a bridge and people could even walk on it. but then this professor came along and said: "hey i can do this too!" and dismantled it but couldn't put it back again so now it has nails. =.= damn professor.
then we went to wren library - it's considered to be the most beautiful library in the world and it really is. and i went inside and there were the manuscripts of the original first eyewitness account of an atomic bomb, and the copy of the letters of st paul!! and the principia mathematica of isaac newton and the first edition of shakespeare's plays!! gosh! the originals! oh mann it was scary.
well then we went to this shop called tattie's where they sell humongous jacket potatoes which are really yummy. well then i walked into trinity college's great courtyard - we were allowed to walk through each college because my dad was a selwyn man so they let him through - and the courtyard is humoungous. i think we can just plop the upper secondary block and the canteen and the width of a basketball court in it. and it's only the courtyard. it's scary!!
well then we walked back to the train station and had to buy a new ticket for me cos mine got swallowed by the machine and it didn't come out again. so we had to sprint for the train and this time got on it with 4min to spare! yay!
slept on the way back and just stayed in the room..and here i am. ta daa. (:

me tired.

ahhh
yesterday i got drenched in the rain on my way to st pauls cathedral. and it started to pour so i just ran across the road to get to shelter and when i ran through the buildings i realised i didnt know where i was. ): so i took out my map to check where i was and then rainwater dripped onto the map and it got wet and tore apart...so i put it back in my bag and used my awesome directional skills to navigate my way to the correct street and realised i had gone one whole round. aahhaha...not so awesome after all.
well i couldnt go into the cathedral cos they were having a commemoration for the soldiers who died during the world war II. there was a band and a marchpass with people holding flags and they were dressed in their military uniform with all the medals and there was even a flyover and the media were there and there were policemen on horses. aweshum. and i talked to this lady from wisconsin, usa and she was quite cute.
well then i walked back to the hotel cos i was tired cos i had been walking and standing around for 4 hours straight. so i went home, and went out again to the aquarium after an hour, and they didn't allow kids under 16 to go in unaccompanied. what the bong!
well i slept for one and a half hours and then my dad came back from work and took me out to eat pies at this restaurant called porter's and the servings were HUGE and i was stuffed. and it was really delicious. and we had lotsa talk. yar...

"do you know what this song is?"he asks
"nope."
"it's called islands in the stream by dolly parton"
"okay"
"it's her theme song for doing a backstroke in the water"
"doing backstrokes in the water??"
"yes! do you know what dolly parton is famous for?"
"erm nope. i dont know her."
"she's known for her big boobies!"
"...what!!!"
"yes! so that's why when she does a backstroke in the water it's islands in the stream! ahahahah!"
"urghhh DAD!!"

(when we're walking along the golden jubilee bridges)
"i went to the aquarium today and they didn't allow me in without an adult. i was like what!"
"oh why didn't you talk your way in?"
"well..they might think i was annoying."
"to show them that you're mature..you should try to convince them to let you in and they will be impressed!"
"err"
"or even better, talk them into letting you go in for FREE! ahahahah!!"
"oh mann dad.."

KEWWWW

look at how beeeg the lily pads are!!!

ahh helloo.
finally managed to use the internet hahaha. i have to pay 10 pounds for an internet card, and it only lasts for 24 consecutive hours. which means i can't use the net by this time tomorrow. what a bum!! how cheapskate! rawr!
erm yesterdayyy there was supposed to be a tube strike, but it didn't happen. so i hope it isn't today...uh oh. then i won't be able to go anywhere! erm well yesterday i went to kew gardends. but before i did that i had to get my photo taken at the photo booths to make myself a subway card! ahaha! ahhh i look so duh. cos inside the booth the electronic female voice said: "DO NOT SMILE" so i had to get rid of my previous photos because i smiled and had to take another one. grrr.
erm then well we took the underground to kew gardens. the tube here is so complicated!! there's like eastbound and westbound and there's underground trains and overground trains and you have to know which train to take when it arrives at your station. i think i'll get lost today by myself. well kew was great. ahaha! it's like 300 acres and there's redwood trees and pine trees and bamboos and lotsa big fields and plenty of pretty flowers. and there were magpies and all.
it took us 5 hours to do kew and we were tired. like super tired. my legs ached like mad. gosh. so we went to buy a huge bag of chips and some milk and went to covent gardens. and it was so cool cos we went to this soap shop, where we bought some bubble bath bombs. you know, you fill your bathtub up to the brim and then put the bomb inside and it fizzes and bubbles! ahaha! well then we walked by trafalgar square where we saw the tower dedicated to admiral nelson who defeated napolean. yar.
well then we just slacked in the hotel room for like...5 hours. yeapp.
and it seems the tube strike is today. oh nooooo. so i have to walk! bleagh. well good exercise.
(In Kew Gardens)
"hey jess, that looks like a funny tree!"
"yes, it looks dead too."
"yeah it does. whomping willow whomping willow!"
dad walks off to inspect the tree. i just stay where i am collecting pinecones.
dad comes back a few minutes later.
"hey it's a really really old english oak tree."
"oh cool!"
"yeah, and there's even an interesting peacock plant! come on lemme show you."
"a peacock plant? i've heard of that before."
"yes yes but this is one that you've never ever seen!!"
"oh really..?" *curiosity aroused* dad takes me around the bushes to the old tree.
"you have to look carefully as you walk by.."he hints
i look carefully.
something very strange catches my eye on the left...a peacock feather stuck in the dirt.
"ohh dad, you SUCK!"

im leaving on a humongous enormous jetplane~

im in the airport now, waiting to board my plane. ahahah! oh oh and cos you know, my dad flies really often on business trips, he gets these things called frequent flyer points, and so he gets lotsa privileges. for example, today we went to terminal 3, and one of the certain privileges he got was that we're in first class. so we checked in at the first class area. and people opened the car door for me. and they took out my luggage and put it on one of those hotel thingymajigs and rolled it in. and then we have our own check in door. gosh. and then cos we're on the A380, the biggest plane in the world, there's 2 decks. and im on the bottom one while he's on the upper deck. so he arranged for me to get an upper deck aisle seat. and i did! gosh! and it was so last minute. like only 2 hours before the flight and they did it for him. and we get to go to this first class lounge for breakfast. and im in it right now. and there's free internet access and tonnes of computers. expensive ones too. and the food here is nice. it's like a buffet~ and i ate beef hor fun, chips, hagen daz ice cream, pastries, and there's lotsa more other stuff.
i had lotsa talking time with my dad while i ate chips. like i realised that after london, he has to go to seoul the day after, and then surabaya, and then murkat?? maskat? i can't remember. but i think it's in oman. and he gets 1 week break. and then he goes off to karachi, and then thailand, and then indonesia. and then it'll be christmas so he gets a break too. and then london and the cycle restarts all over again. ): poor daddy. no wonder he gets frequent flyer points.
it's so weird, they're playing christmas carols in the lounge. =/
wells. i guess i'll go now. i left my dad in the eating area to walk around in the lounge. anyway, it's so posh. there's huge armchairs and it's carpeted and there's soft dim light and all. gosh. well, i'll update later whee! :D see you soon.

"hey dad, would you like to come and walk around with me?"
"what are you doing?"
"im walking around. i just told you. why? do you wanna come?"
"oh, i just wanted to know what you were doing. i thought you were going to take more chips."
"well, i'll walk around and then come back and take more chips. so do you want to come?"
"oh then nah. i'll just wait for you back here. why dont you take some chips and walk around?"
"eat chips while im walking around?? dad, people will think i'm a glutton!"
"you are."
"thanks dad."
